Oak Flooring Direct Faced Slaughter in Charity Football Match

heading_title

The challenging weather conditions were not enough to hold off the much anticipated football match between Oak Flooring Direct and building contractor Bray & Slaughter Ltd, who went head-to-head all in aid of local nominated charities on Sunday.

The game was held at South Bristol Sports Centre on its 3G pitch, with proceeds donated to Kingsweston Special School and The Harvey Hext appeal.

Despite an early goal from Bray & Slaughter, Oak Flooring Direct showed resilience with an outstanding equaliser. The sense of competition was palpable as Grant Jefferies, Director of Bray & Slaughter, challenged Oak Flooring Direct owner Nathan Sims in a solid sliding tackle. However, Oak Flooring Direct’s determined performance was not enough to fend off the energetic Bray & Slaughter team, who gained an impressive 5-3 win.

The ‘Construction Cup’ was passed to the victors at the clubhouse, where further money was raised. Bray & Slaughter’s goalkeeper Jordan Coles was given the accolade of Man of the Match.

Oak Flooring Direct’s Nathan Sims passed on his thanks to all those involved, commenting that the game was ‘played in great spirits’ with money raised for ‘fantastic local causes’.

The teams collectively raised £750.00, with further collections being taken until Christmas.

A rematch is scheduled for Spring 2013.
